UNAIR NEWS – Nine students of 66th period of UNAIR KKN BBM have held Fun Saving and Reuse program in Cerme Kidul Village, Cerme Sub-district, Gresik Regency. The Fun Saving and Reuse program, known as FSR, is a program created in the economic field by using used bottles as piggy banks and saving education.
Interviewed by UNAIR NEWS on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, the Head of KKN Group Cerme Kidul Mirzha Mardiyah Jannah, a student of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), explained that among their programs, FSR is one of the flagship programs. It has covered four areas of KKN, namely economy, environment, education, and health.
“The environment is covered with the reuse concept, education from its educative activity, the economy because the saving material, also health because it is still related to reducing waste so it has an impact on personal health. It is put together in an education program on saving and reusing used bottles for piggy banks,” she explained.
The FSR program, added Mirza, has been integrated with garbage banks owned by local residents. With the garbage bank, they can optimize the potential of used bottle into useful goods.
“In the site, the residents have a garbage bank, so our groups reuse the bottles there to make piggy banks. So the education is continued by direct practice of making a piggy bank in the hope that the younger siblings will use it to save money,” she said.
The program, which targets children in elementary school, is packaged in a relaxed and fun activity. The program focuses on saving education, reusing bottles and honing the creativity of participants through painting activities.
Mirzha also explained that the program they had carried out received enthusiasm from the participants. “The kids were excited to listen to the educative materials, some of them are even diligent in saving. Painting was also fun for them, they were given freedom to be creative,” she said.
In the future, Mirzha hoped that the activities would be useful and the used piggy banks would be used for saving as intended.
