UNAIR NEWS – UNAIR students always show their commitments to make achievements. This time, Rizkia Khoirul Anwar and Benedikta Jenika Indawan Saputri from Indonesian Language and Literature and Nursing majors won Second Place in Rembang tourism ambassadors 2022 on Saturday, July 30, 2022.
Rembang tourism ambassadors selection is held by Ikatan Mas Mbak Rembang (IMMR) and Culture and Tourism Office of Rembang Regency every year. Like other tourism ambassador events, several stages of selection were conducted, including the administration stage, written test, quarantine, in-depth interview, talent round, and the grand final for speech and QnA sessions.
Jenika said that the challenge she faced was how to remain confident after seeing the other competitors.
“All of them have their own strengths and gave their best. Like it or not, I had to keep calm and control my nervousness so that everything falls into place,” she said.
On the other hand, Rizki admitted that speech session in the Top 10 was his biggest challenge. He left some important points in his speech.
“I thought I wouldn’t make it to the Top 6 as I didn’t do so well for my speech. But, thanks to my friends and team support, I came back stronger, Alhamdulillah,” said Kiky.
They shared a few tips for other students interested in participating in the competition. Jenika suggested students to have a firm intention and strong determination, followed by mental and material preparation. Every effort must be completed by prayers and surrendered to God’s plan.
Kiky added that several parts must be underlined. First, do some research on the competition details. Second, discuss the experience and steal some tips from the previous winners. Third, set a strategy in arranging the vision and mission, and do more practice in speech, catwalk, intonation, and facial expression.
Fourth, gain more knowledge in tourism and cultural insights. Fifth, ask for prayers and supports from loved ones, family, and friends. Last, pray and be surrender to God.
