UNAIR STUDENTS – Six students from Universitas Airlangga Surabaya E-Sport Community (UASEC) have made a national achievement. The talented students are Ikhlasul Haji Raidiala, Andre Young, Michael Armando, Dicky Indrawan, Bayu Apriliadi, and Al-Fickry Ghanishafa. They won the First Prize in Mobile Legend and PUBG Mobile in the Campus E-Sport National Competition (CESCO).
The competition was held online by the Sport Student Activity Unit of Politeknik Negeri Sriwijaya on August 15-20, 2022. To UNAIR NEWS, the UNAIR E-Sport manager, Yoga Dimas Ananta said that the 2022 CESCO tournament sent UNAIR Blessing team to join the competition.
“Among the four E-Sport teams, UNAIR Blessing is the most active team. The manager decided to go with the UNAIR Blessing for the 2022 CESCO tournament this year,” he said.
Since the opening of CESCO, Yoga and his teams were sure to win the cup, even when some universities delegated more teams.
“During the final, we went against the UMY team as the Up and Low Bracket system was used in the competition. We managed to win the game 3-0 as we had figured out the opponent’s weakness. In the end, we won the First Prize,” he said.
Yoga added that the elimination stage of CESCO ran pretty unique. The elimination stage used Best of 3 (BO 3), while the semifinal to final stage used Best of 5 (BO 5).
“The other tournament usually used the BO 1 system in its elimination stage. This way, each team is satisfied with the opportunity to compete,” he said.
The victory takes a lot of effort. The UMY team thrashed them 2-0 in the early part of the semifinal. However, UNAIR Blessing eventually turned it around and went to the final round.
The full support of UASEC keeps them motivated to win the First Prize.
“UASEC fully supports the UNAIR Blessing team by dropping comments during the live matches. Our friends and colleagues also support them during the match,” he said.
