UNAIR NEWS – The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, proposed that working days sandwiched between a holiday and a weekend are made national holidays. Of course, this statement is a breath of fresh air for workers who are often annoyed when they have to work on Fridays even though Thursday is a holiday.
Sandi explained that compensation for holidays that fell on Sundays needed to be done. In addition, when his proposal is granted, he hopes that MSMEs will expand, employment and business opportunities will also be created massively.
To UNAIR NEWS, January 10, 2023, Tourism observer at Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), Novianto Edi Suharno SSTPar MSi, stated that it could encourage people to travel to farther places, even to stay overnight.
“The existence of this holiday allows tourists to move to tourist attractions in relatively large numbers,” he concluded.
He also confirmed Minister Sandi’s statement about the positive correlation between holidays and work productivity. For him, balancing vacation and work will improve focus and relieve stress. It is what is expected when returning to work.
“Even in several studies, it was stated if there is a balance between holidays and working time or working hours it can increase individual productivity by up to 80 percent,” added the lecturer who also serves as Vice Dean III of UNAIR Faculty of Vocational Studies.
Even on holidays, people are encouraged to be able to make good use of it. If you can’t afford a vacation to a tourist spot, staying at home is not the wrong choice. The most important thing is to take advantage of the time off to gather with family.
“It’s all depend on the people, whether they can use the holiday to refresh themselves. So if the key word is refreshing, it means to refresh our state. So it should return our mind state to be productive again,” he added.
He also advised people not to get too carried away. Traveling must also be done wisely and pay attention to health and safety aspects. Avoid natural tourism activities such as mountains or the sea when the weather is bad.
“We are not completely free from the Covid-19 problem. Of course, this health problem is an important point that must be watched out for wherever we are, even though PPKM has been declared to be over,” he concluded. (*)
