UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga officially held a community service program (KKN) learning with community (BBK) from January 10 to February 4, 2023, in 11 districts and cities, including Banyuwangi, Jember, Madiun, Kediri, Gresik, Lamongan, Surabaya, and Madura.
Approximately 250 students will carry out the KKN BBK program in Gresik district, Cerme sub-district, East Java. Regional Secretary of Gresik district, Ahmad Washil Miftahul Rahman warmly welcomed the students and the supervising lecturers at the Mandala Bhakti Praja Hall, Gresik Regent Office, on January 10, 2023.
The Head of Quality Assurance Board UNAIR, Prof. Nurul Barizah, SH LLM Ph.D. stated that the KKN-BBK program may contribute to improving the quality of development in villages, especially the Cerme sub-district.
“Hopefully, the KKN-BBK can be valuable and memorable for the village community and us,” she said.
Students must truly use the time and opportunity to learn with the community. The program is a part of three pillars (tri dharma) of higher education, where students must take the role of problem solver in the community.
“With this program, university won’t be an ivory tower that is far from the community; instead, it provides solutions for the community,” she added.
Prof. Nurul emphasized that the students’ presence won’t be troublemakers, instead, they become problem solvers for the community. “I repeat, students must follow the community rules,” she affirmed.
As Gresik is known for being ‘the city of Santri,’ students must respect the customs and culture of Gresik, especially in dressing style.
In the end, Prof. Nurul advised students to carry themselves wisely in the community to maintain the dignity and reputation of UNAIR.
