Thousands of high school students join Get to Know Airlangga

UNAIR NEWS – After the success of Get To Know Airlangga (GTKA) event in January 2023, the Student Executive Board (BEM) Universitas Airlangga held another GTKA on Saturday, March 11, 2023. The program aims to promote UNAIR to high school students at the national level.

Carrying the theme of ‘Live up to Your Potential’, the GTKA Vol. 2 guides participants to optimize their potential through interest and talent tests. To UNAIR NEWS, Zeeva Errica Audrina, the Head of the Committee, reveals the reason behind the return of GTKA.

“We held another event because of the high demand from high school students,” Zeeva said. The data recorded that 1,400 students attended the event. It was twice the number of participants in the first GTKA.

On the first day, the event was held at the Airlangga Convention Center (ACC) for talk shows, an introduction to UNAIR, and other interesting performances.

Giving motivations

A representative from BEM, Gerry Pratama Putra introduced each faculty at UNAIR. He encouraged the participants to become UNAIR students.

“I hope you can be a part of UNAIR. I hope you will be chosen as UNAIR students, wearing the alma mater suit just like us,” Gerry said.

Campus Tour

The talk show was followed by dance and band performances. The first day ended with a campus tour. The participants were divided into small groups and accompanied by the committee to tour the MERR-C Campus.

The second day began with a campus tour around the Dharmawangsa-B and Dharmahusada-A Campus. The committee organized the participants’ mobilization using the buses orderly to move between campus locations. Afterward, all participants were gathered at the Shared Lecture Building (GKB) in MERR-C Campus before taking the interest and talent test in the classroom.

The event ended with awarding session. The committee awarded the best group according to their solidarity and enthusiasm. GTKA Vol. 2 ended well and received positive responses from the participants.

Arsya, one of the participants, shared his GTKA experience. “It was so much fun. I got new experiences and new friends. I got to learn UNAIR’s admission tracks as well,” he said at the end of the event.
