UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) officially released its 57 best students to top universities worldwide on July 2, 2023. The 57 students will participate in the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) program. The sending-off ceremony was held online and attended by university and faculty officials.

“We should be proud of this because, since the first year of IISMA, the best university in Indonesia has consistently maintained awardees from year to year. This year, it has increased by 5 percent,” said Iman Harymawan, Director of Airlangga Global Engagement.

Message to awardees

Iman Harymawan said that this achievement is the fruit of students’ tireless hard work and sacrifice. Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE)  also helps with all the preparations students need.

He appealed that during the program, the awardees could maintain the good name of themselves, their families and the university because, during the program, they were representatives of Indonesia and the university. The awardees are expected to give a good impression when they are abroad.

“Furthermore, UNAIR has a culture of sharing experiences with the next awardee candidatesAfter returning home, I hope the awardees can help and join ARMI (Airlangga Mobility Representative),” added the Director of Airlangga Global Engagement.

Impressions and messages from awardee representative

During the sending-off ceremony, Leony Sutanto Halim, a student of the Faculty of Humanities, delivered remarks on behalf of the other awardees. Leony thanked UNAIR for helping with all their needs during the selection. According to her, without UNAIR’s help, she would not have reached this point.

Leony said she was very grateful to be selected from the thousands of students participating in the IISMA selection. Of course, this will not be wasted to bring the university’s good name and can significantly impact UNAIR after studying.

Finally, I would say congratulations and best of luck to us. Hopefully, all of us awardees can study abroad well and bring useful knowledge after studying,” she concluded.
