UNAIR NEWS – Holding its 1st International Symposium on Patient Safety and Quality, Patient Safety Research Center Universitas Airlangga (PUI-PT Center UNAIR) CoE-PSQ signs a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Institute for Patient Safety and Quality Duke NUS Singapore under SingHealth. The MOA was signed at the Airlangga Meeting Room, Hotel Bumi Surabaya City and Resort on Monday, Nov 20, 2023.
The meeting was attended by Inge Dhamanti SKM MKes MPH Ph.D. as Center of Excellence for Patient Safety and Quality and Prof Tan Kok Hian as Group Director and Senior Associate Dean of SingHealth Institute for Patient Safety and Quality Singapore.
To UNAIR NEWS, Inge Dhamanti explained that PUIPT UNAIR is the first Center of Excellence in higher education institution focusing on health quality and patient safety. This collaboration has existed since 2022, and IPSQ Singapore is willing to accompany and support UNAIR to become a quality Center of Excellence.
“We see that IPSQ Singapore has extensive experience in terms of patient health and safety. This is an opportunity for us, especially UNAIR, to learn from IPSQ in Singapore,” explained Inge.
The La Trobe University alumnus continued that the collaboration between PUIPT UNAIR and IPSQ Singapore will focus on capacity building to develop the quality of health workers and medical, research, and technological transformation.
“Not only with IPSQ Singapore, we aim to collaborate with the US Emergency Care Research Institute (ERCI). ERCI is one of the well-known organizations in the US that also focuses on patient safety and health. They are also one of the official organizations with permission to provide audits of health support equipment,” she added.
Inge hoped that this first symposium could be a step towards advancing Indonesia in patient safety and health. Besides that, PUIPT UNAIR will take strategic actions to improve the quality of patient safety and health.
“We hope that our current efforts and hard work can change the quality of patient safety and health in Indonesia, both nationally and internationally, and will be as good as in other developed countries,” she said.
