UNAIR and BNI distribute 1000 ‘sembako’ packages to communities around university

UNAIR NEWSUniversitas Airlangga (UNAIR) Dharma Wanita Persatuan, in collaboration with Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI), has organized a social service activity during the Holy Month of Ramadan 1445 H. The event took place at the ACC Building, MERR-C Campus, UNAIR on Thursday. March 21, 2024.

Attending the event were Triyani Purnawati Nasih, the Chairperson of UNAIR’s Dharma Wanita Persatuan, Prof Dr Mohammad Nasih SE MT Ak, Rector of UNAIR, Efrizal Pollo, the Head of BNI INB 2 Division, and Munadi Herlambang, Director of Institutional Banking at BNI. The event also served as a ceremonial event of sembako (staple food) packages distribution.

Prof Nasih expressed that Ramadan is the perfect time to share kindness. A total of 1000 packages of staple food will be distributed to the communities around the MERR-C Campus, Dharmawangsa-B Campus, Dharmahusada-A Campus, and several orphanages.

“We are grateful to BNI for their steadfast support of UNAIR’s programs. May these staple food packages help those in need, and may all the assistance provided by BNI be rewarded by the Almighty,” said Prof Nasih.

Through these staple food packages, Prof Nasih hopes to continue fostering kindness during Ramadan. Moreover, he aims to maintain the bond between UNAIR and BNI, especially in building programs that directly impact the community.

Triyani explained that the staple food packages provided to UNAIR’s cleaning service staff would be distributed through the coordinators of Dharma Wanita Persatuan in each faculty. These packages include rice, oil, sugar, and tea bags.

“I extend my gratitude to the UNAIR Dharma Wanita Persatuan board members who volunteered to assist yesterday. The aid of 1000 staple food packages will be distributed in several areas such as Kedung Tarukan, Mulyorejo, Srikana, Jojoran, Karangmenjangan, and other areas around the UNAIR campus,” said Triyani.

Triyani emphasized that these staple food packages are part of an annual activity. It reflects UNAIR’s concern for the communities. Looking ahead, she hopes that more staple food packages will be distributed to the communities, bringing more happiness to them.
