UNAIR NEWS – For the first time, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) is hosting the 2024 ASEAN University Games (AUG), featuring 3×3 Basketball and Judo. This international competition is the major sporting event for college students among ASEAN countries, including Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Brunei, and Timor Leste.
The 3×3 Basketball events are being held from Wednesday to Friday (June 26-28, 2024) at GOR MEER-C Campus UNAIR, while the Judo events are taking place from Wednesday to Saturday (June 26-29, 2024) at Airlangga Convention Center (ACC).
During the opening ceremony on Wednesday (June 26, 2024), Vice Rector for Academic, Student, and Alumni Affairs, Prof. Dr. Bambang Sektiari Lukiswanto, expressed his pride in hosting two sports at this prestigious event. He shared his joy that UNAIR could witness the gathering of talented athletes from various ASEAN countries.
“UNAIR is delighted to welcome the participants of the 21st ASEAN University Games. We hope this event fosters a spirit of unity and sportsmanship among ASEAN nations,” he said.

He emphasized that this prestigious event is not just about winning medals but also about cultural exchange, building friendships, and enhancing tolerance among nations. “This is a celebration of talented youth, and sports are what can unite us,” he added.
Prof. Lukiswanto urged all participants to give their best effort and uphold integrity, fairness, and the spirit of sportsmanship. He hopes to see the spirit of sportsmanship flourish among the players.
“Let us remember that the essence of this game lies in healthy and honest competition. May the ASEAN University Games be an unforgettable and valuable experience for all participants. Good luck!” he concluded.
