UNAIR NEWS – The Amerta Venture Team from Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) achieved third place in the National Student Competition in Business, Management, and Finance (KBMK). This competition, organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology in collaboration with the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas), took place from Monday, June 26 to Friday, June 29, 2024 at Universitas Multimedia Nusantara, Tangerang.

The KBMK competition categories included investment research, forensic financial audit, business planning, scientific writing, and commercialization of research and appropriate technology. The Amerta Venture Team, from the Development Economics program at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), was led by Fauzan Ghaly Mulyanto. Team members included I Kadek Yudy Prasetia and Vania Eka Rachmadani, both Accounting students.

In an interview, Yudy detailed the extensive process the team underwent to secure third place. In the preliminary round, the team received a case study from Sido Muncul, focusing on an innovation titled “Sido Rise from Adversity.”

“Based on our macro analysis, financial analysis, and valuation methods, we recommended buying Sido Muncul’s shares with a target price of Rp810. This likely contributed to our advancement to the semifinal round with the top 11 teams,” Yudy explained on Thursday, July 4, 2024.

In the semifinals, the Amerta Venture Team had to analyze Phapros, a subsidiary of a state-owned enterprise in the pharmaceutical sector. They conducted an in-depth analysis and recommended selling Phapros shares with a target price decrease of 20.18 percent. “Once again, we advanced to the final round held offline at UMN,” Yudy stated.

The final round posed the greatest challenge for Amerta Venture team. The team had less than 10 hours to analyze Hansoh Pharma, a leading pharmaceutical company in Hong Kong. The Amerta Venture Team recommended buying shares with a target price of 21.79 Hong Kong Dollars, securing their third-place finish.

“The final round was particularly challenging due to the international market focus, requiring time to understand new terminology,” Yudy elaborated.

In addition to their impressive achievement, Amerta Venture team gained invaluable experience from this competition. They felt more adept at investment analysis, portfolio management, and understanding economic and industrial conditions in greater depth. “We hope our analysis will be accessible to the public to better educate and raise investment awareness among the community,” a representative stated.
