Collaboration with Huawei, UNAIR promotes digital talent development

UNAIR NEWSUniversitas Airlangga (UNAIR), one of Indonesia’s top universities, continues to expand its global presence through strategic partnerships with leading international companies. One of the latest collaborations is with PT Huawei Tech Investment.

The partnership was recently showcased as UNAIR hosted the Huawei Teacher Summit 2024. The event took place at the Sriwijaya Hall, ASEEC Tower, 5th Floor, Dharmawangsa-B Campus, Universitas Airlangga, on Saturday, August 31, 2024.

The summit, themed “Empowering Educators for Digital Transformation in Indonesia’s Education Landscape,” brought together educators from various schools and universities across Indonesia. It also marked the launch of Huawei’s training program for 1,000 teachers and lecturers.

Key attendees included Adi Nuryanto, ST MT, Director of Partnerships and Alignment with the Business and Industrial World, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology; Yenty Joman, Director of Government Affairs at Huawei Indonesia; and Prof. Dr. Dwi Setyawan, SSi, MSi, Apt., Dean of the Faculty of Advanced Technology and Multidiscipline (FTMM) UNAIR.

The ICT Academy, a global initiative by Huawei, aims to empower educators to enhance digital skills among students. Rayi Pradono Iswara, Huawei’s Talent Ecosystem Development Manager, shared that over 100 universities have partnered with Huawei under the ICT Academy program, with UNAIR selected as a partner institution in 2024.

“Through the ICT Academy program, we have successfully engaged and collaborated with UNAIR. As one of the top-ranking universities in the QS World University Rankings, we hope to cultivate digital talent among students,” Iswara stated.

Speaking on behalf of UNAIR’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Nasih, Dean of FTMM Prof. Setyawan welcomed the collaboration and outlined the university’s aspirations. He emphasized the vital role of technology in education, reflecting on the critical period of the lockdown from 2019 to 2021.

He highlighted the importance of collaboration in providing a comprehensive education and developing digital talent. “Given the current technological landscape, we must embrace Huawei’s collaboration with UNAIR,” he remarked.

He also mentioned that this partnership aligns with UNAIR’s mission to deliver impactful benefits. “By hosting the Huawei Teacher Summit, we hope to fulfill the rector’s vision of making a positive impact—locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally,” he concluded.
