UNAIR NEWS – The Faculty of Humanities (FIB) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) warmly received 17 inbound students from Kasetsart University, Thailand. The welcoming ceremony was held on Tuesday (February 11, 2025) at the Chairil Anwar Room, FIB Building, Campus B-Dharmawangsa, UNAIR.
FIB UNAIR’s Vice Dean III, Lina Puryanti, SS, MHum, PhD, expressed her enthusiasm and gratitude in her opening remarks, highlighting the importance of the inbound program for both institutions.
“I am confident that this program will be a transformative experience for all involved—both for FIB UNAIR and Kasetsart University. Programs like these are essential for students, as they offer direct exposure to an international academic environment,” she stated.
Immersive cultural learning
Puryanti further noted that the partnership with Kasetsart University has now reached its second year. This year, inbound students will engage in a variety of academic and cultural activities over a three-week period, starting Monday (February 10, 2025).

She emphasized that the inbound students would integrate into daily campus life, similar to regular UNAIR students. This initiative aims to provide a more comprehensive learning experience for the visiting students.
“This approach allows inbound students to fully immerse themselves in Indonesian culture and everyday life. To support their transition, several FIB UNAIR students will serve as study companions throughout the program,” she explained.
Program activities
This year’s inbound program features a wide array of activities, both within and beyond the classroom. In addition to attending lectures, students will participate in interactive cultural experiences, such as traditional music and dance classes. The program also includes visits to key cultural and historical sites in Surabaya.
Puryanti added that the activities extend beyond Surabaya. “We will take the inbound students to explore remarkable destinations, including Mount Bromo and the historic Majapahit Kingdom site in Trowulan. Additionally, they will visit Banyuwangi and tour UNAIR’s Faculty of Health Sciences, Medicine, and Natural Sciences (FIKKIA). We hope these experiences will provide them with invaluable insights and a deeper appreciation of Indonesian culture,” she concluded.
