UNAIR NEWS – Ramadan is not only a time of fasting but also a moment for sharing and fostering social awareness. In the spirit of the blessed month of Ramadan 1446 H, Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), in collaboration with PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, once again organized a charity initiative distributing staple food packages. The event took place on Tuesday (March 18, 2025) at the Airlangga Convention Center (ACC), MERR-C Campus, UNAIR.

UNAIR Rector, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih MT Ak CA, delivered the opening remarks. In his speech, Prof. Nasih expressed his appreciation for DWP’s commitment to continuing this annual program. “Alhamdulillah, today we gather here for a program that has been consistently carried out for at least 17 years,” he stated.

Prof. Nasih also expressed hope that this initiative would serve as a lasting charitable act with benefits both in this world and the hereafter. Additionally, he emphasized that this effort aligns with UNAIR’s commitment to achieving the first goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): No Poverty.

“This initiative has become an integral part of UNAIR’s programs. Last year, UNAIR secured the number one global ranking in the SDGs category for No Poverty. Therefore, we continue to contribute to society through programs like this,” Prof. Nasih remarked.

Chairwoman of DWP UNAIR, Triyani Purnawati Nasih, stated that this year’s social charity initiative provided 1,100 staple food packages. Each package contained essential goods such as rice, cooking oil, sugar, tea, and other necessities crucial for the community during Ramadan.

The food packages were distributed to individuals in the UNAIR community, including cleaning staff, gardeners, and parking attendants stationed at Dharmahusada-A, Dharmawangsa-B, and MERR-C campuses. Furthermore, assistance was extended to orphanages and underprivileged residents in the areas of Moestopo, Kedung Tarukan, Mojo, Karang Menjangan, Airlangga, Srikana, and Mulyorejo.

In the closing statement, Triyani Purnawati Nasih expressed her gratitude to BNI for its ongoing support in facilitating this charity program. “We sincerely thank BNI for its continuous trust in Dharma Wanita Persatuan UNAIR and for providing the funding necessary for this initiative,” she stated.
