UNAIR NEWS – A student from Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has once again earned international recognition. Raissyah Fatika, from the Faculty of Public Health (FKM), was selected as a Special Top 10 Funded Delegate at the Global Youth Innovation Summit (GYIS). The event took place in Singapore and Malaysia from Sunday, August 24, to Wednesday, August 27, 2025.
GYIS is an innovation competition dedicated to advancing the United Nations’ 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In addition to the competition, participants joined academic visits to leading universities, including Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the University of Malaya, and the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).
Safe space in digital era
At the summit, Fatika and her team presented an initiative focused on mental health. They emphasized that while social media brings many benefits, it also carries harmful effects that can influence young people’s subconscious well-being.
In response, Fatika introduced KawanSeasa along with its prototype app RuangSeasa. The application features several tools, including AsaBot, an AI-based chat assistant designed to serve as both a virtual companion and a psychosocial support system.
Other features include educational content on mental health and a find help nearby option that connects users with local psychological services. “Today, so much content drives public opinion and can cause overwhelming pressure. We hope KawanSeasa will provide a safe digital space,” Fatika said.
Building competitive mindset
To qualify for GYIS, Fatika underwent a demanding selection process that included administrative screening, a national knowledge exam, a Leaderless Group Discussion (LGD), and interviews. “You have to prepare with a competitive mindset. For the other assessments, I focused on research and staying informed on current issues,” she noted.
For Fatika, the summit was more than just a competition—it was also a chance to collaborate. Entering her final year, she views such opportunities as valuable moments to explore and maximize her potential.
“I found this experience meaningful because it allowed me and fellow Indonesian youth to collaborate, think critically, and develop innovative solutions. I also want to take full advantage of every opportunity available to me as a student,” Fatika concluded.
