UNAIR NEWS – Prastika Krisma Jiwanti, PhD, a lecturer in the Nanotechnology Engineering program and Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Advanced Technology and Multidiscipline, has received a Travel Award from the Global Conference for Women Leaders and Emerging Researchers in Materials Science (GLOW). The honor recognizes her contributions to materials science, with a focus on nanomaterials and their use in electrochemical sensors. The award also underscores efforts to strengthen women’s participation in research and innovation at the global level.

GLOW 2025 was held at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore and featured leading women scientists from around the world. Attendees included researchers from Europe, the United States, Japan, Korea, India, and Australia. Distinguished female professors from top universities, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of California, Berkeley, also participated.

Stage for women scientists

The conference served as a platform for women researchers to exchange ideas, experiences, and the latest findings in materials science and nanotechnology. GLOW 2025 drew widespread interest, attracting academics, postdoctoral scholars, and industry professionals. With sessions ranging from presentations to panel discussions and workshops, the event sought to inspire both established scientists and early-career researchers.

Jiwanti has been active in publishing research on nanotechnology for electrochemical sensor applications, with several works featured in international journals. She is also a frequent speaker at global conferences. The Travel Award adds to her professional achievements while elevating the international reputation of the Faculty of Advanced Technology and Multidiscipline, as well as Universitas Airlangga as a whole. She also urged younger generations, particularly women in science, to take a more active role in research and technological innovation, especially in the field of nanotechnology.
