UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) officially dispatched its top student teams to compete in two major national events: the 38th National Student Science Week (PIMNAS) and the 16th Indonesian Student Entrepreneurship (KMI) Expo. The send-off ceremony took place on Friday (Nov. 14, 2025) in the Amerta Room on the 4th floor of the UNAIR Management Building, MERR-C Campus. Four PIMNAS teams and three KMI Expo teams were formally released by the rector and university leadership.

In his remarks, UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Muhammad Madyan, SE, MSi, MFin reminded the delegations that they represent more than themselves. They carry the honor of UNAIR, an institution rooted in the values of Excellence with Morality. “We once placed second at PIMNAS with only six teams. With confidence and determination, God willing, we can repeat that success or even surpass it,” he said.

Prof. Madyan emphasized that the students selected for these competitions reflect UNAIR’s true academic spirit and integrity. He noted that joining the delegation is a significant achievement. “You have undergone several rounds of selection, at the faculty level, the university level, and even nationally. This is exceptional work. Every idea and project you bring forward reflects your hard work and perseverance,” he said.

The Faculty of Economics and Business’ professor also stressed that success is not the result of luck but of consistent effort. “As the Arabic phrase goes, man jadda wa jada. Those who train with discipline will become champions. You are Airlangga Knights who not only think but also persevere, who not only dream but work tirelessly to achieve those dreams,” he added.

Prof. Madyan urged the students to uphold the university’s guiding principle, Excellence with Morality. “Achievement without integrity is empty. But accomplishments built on honesty and character become a lasting legacy. I believe that wherever you compete, the Airlangga spirit will stay with you,” he said.

Before closing, the rector conveyed the full support and prayers of the entire UNAIR academic community. He expressed hope that the PIMNAS and KMI Expo teams would return with outstanding achievements and stories of pride. “Compete with sincerity, think with conscience, and return with stories that inspire. May God Almighty grant you strength, safety, and success,” he concluded.

For context, UNAIR’s PIMNAS delegation consists of two teams in Social Humanities Research, one team in Exact Sciences Research, and one team in Entrepreneurship. PIMNAS will take place from November 23–28 at Hasanuddin University in Makassar. Meanwhile, the three KMI teams, representing Digital Business; Creative, Arts, and Cultural Industries; and Services, Tourism, and Trade, will compete from November 19–21 at Tidar University in Magelang.
