Indonesia Punya Kamu reaffirms youth commitment to clean energy

UNAIR NEWSUniversitas Airlangga (UNAIR) hosted the opening event of the national movement Indonesia Punya Kamu on Monday (Nov. 24, 2025) in Surabaya. During its third stop, the cross-sector program carried the theme Green Energy: Together with the Youth, Advancing Clean Energy for Sustainable Future, aiming to reinforce the role of young people in advancing Indonesia’s clean energy transition.

The agenda continued with a series of high-level discussions featuring speakers from several strategic sectors. Among those present were Prof. Yassierli ST MT PhD from the Ministry of Industry; Deputy Minister for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, Veronika Tan; East Java Vice Governor Emil Elestianto Dardak; Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi; and UNAIR Vice Rector for Academic, Student Affairs, and Alumni, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Amin Alamsjah. Their collective presence reaffirmed a unified commitment to engaging young people as key drivers of sustainable energy transformation.

Youth at center of energy transition

In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Amin Alamsjah emphasized that young people play an essential role in ensuring the success of Indonesia’s clean energy goals. He underscored that students possess the creativity and capacity to introduce new ideas and push forward concrete change within the clean energy sector.

“Young people must be at the forefront of this transformation. Indonesia needs their innovation and determination to accelerate the shift toward cleaner and more sustainable energy,” Prof. Alamsjah said.

He noted that UNAIR continues to strengthen its support for student contributions through research development, technology innovation, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. According to him, student-led efforts, ranging from academic inquiries to community-based initiatives, form the foundation for building a greener energy ecosystem in Indonesia.

Students lead with innovation

Building on his earlier remarks, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Amin Alamsjah highlighted various student initiatives showcased at the PDB Expo. He pointed out that many of the projects respond directly to community needs, adding, “Their solutions may be simple, but they carry significant impact.” The expo featured sustainability-oriented innovations and entrepreneurial projects, including eco-friendly technologies and business models that promote green practices.

Prof. Alamsjah further noted that the participation of leaders from multiple sectors in the Indonesia Punya Kamu movement opens doors for expanded collaboration. He expressed hope that these partnerships will strengthen the ability of students to produce practical energy solutions that deliver real benefits to communities.

The visit of Indonesia Punya Kamu to UNAIR marked a key moment in elevating youth engagement in clean energy issues. Through multisector dialogue, university leadership insights, and a display of student innovations, the event reaffirmed a shared commitment to cultivating sustainable ideas and actionable solutions for Indonesia’s future energy landscape.
