UNAIR NEWS – A graduate of Universitas Airlangga’s School of Postgraduate Studies (SPS) has shown how persistence can lead to remarkable success. Speaking with UNAIR NEWS on Monday (Dec 1, 2025), Dr. Hendro Puspito, SE, MPSDM shared his professional journey. Early in his career, Dr. Puspito worked in the medical device sector, serving in several distribution companies. Beginning in 2011, he joined PT B Braun Medical Indonesia, a major medical equipment distributor, where his performance earned him consistent annual recognition.
His achievements opened new doors in 2017, when PT Esa Medika Mandiri recruited him as branch manager. Within a year, he again received commendation from the company for his work.
“That was a major accomplishment for me. When we give our best and continue improving ourselves, our performance grows, and other companies take notice. Opportunities to advance are abundant as long as we deliver real, measurable results,” he said.
Venturing into entrepreneurship
Not content to stay on a familiar path, Dr. Puspito founded PT Sinergi Inti Mineral in 2021. He expanded his expertise by shifting from medical distribution to the mining-product supply industry, offering materials such as calcium, silica sand, and other mined commodities.
Although the company is relatively young, PT Sinergi Inti Mineral has quickly established a wide distribution network. It even secured a role as the primary distributor of calcium hydroxide raw materials for PT Smelting, a subsidiary of PT Freeport Indonesia.
“Awal mula, kita hanya investasi trading, belum punya pabrik. Misalnya back up pembayaran, kita beli ke pabrik, dan jual ke pabrik (B2B). Awalnya baru begitu, lalu pada tahun 2023 punya pabrik sendiri di Tuban,” jelasnya.
Education as foundation for networking
The Trenggalek-born doctoral graduate emphasized that much of his current success is influenced by what he gained during his academic years. After completing his master’s degree in Human Resource Development at UNAIR, he continued directly into the doctoral program in the same field. “With a PhD, the connections will be far broader and and networks will be stronger than with only master’s program,” he added.
He hopes his company will eventually expand internationally and continue improving its services. “As this company grows, we want to create more job opportunities and support the community. The goal is to provide greater value and benefit to society,” he concluded.
