UNAIR NEWS – As part of its ongoing push to expand global partnerships, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) held a strategic meeting with Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore on Friday (12/12/25). The discussion, held at Amerta Hall on UNAIR’s MEER-C Campus, focused on strengthening academic collaboration between the two institutions.
The meeting was attended by UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Muhammad Madyan, SE, MSi, MFin; Vice Rector for Academic, Alumni, and Student Affairs Prof. Ir. Mochammad Amin Alamsjah, MSi, PhD; and Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, and Community Development Prof. Muhammad Miftahussurur, dr., MKes, Sp.PD-KGEH, PhD.
Also in attendance were the deans of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Faculty of Public Health (FKM), and the Faculty of Advanced Technology and Multidiscipline (FTMM). NTU was represented by Dr. Maliki Osman and Professor Lydia Helena Wong.
INSTEP Scholarship
Prof. Madyan said NTU is widely recognized as one of Asia’s leading universities. He expressed hope that the visit would serve as a catalyst for further institutional growth and mark a timely opportunity to expand academic cooperation between UNAIR and NTU.
“Building on NTU’s strong reputation, we hope to collaborate in education, research, publications, and community engagement. We also aim to move quickly on curriculum matchmaking between relevant study programs to strengthen this partnership,” he said.
Sharing a similar view, Prof. Wong welcomed the collaboration with UNAIR. As part of the partnership, NTU introduced the INSTEP scholarship (Indonesia–NTU Singapore Talent Programme), a joint initiative between NTU and LPDP that targets 200 scholarship recipients for master’s degree programs.
“Under this program, students will complete three years of study at UNAIR, followed by one year at NTU, and then continue with a one-year master’s program at NTU. Graduates will earn a bachelor’s degree from UNAIR and a master’s degree from NTU,” she said.
Looking ahead
Aligned with UNAIR’s long-term vision, Prof. Alamsjah said the collaboration has strong potential for implementation, particularly through technology-oriented programs offered by FST and FTMM, which align closely with NTU’s emphasis on engineering and technology.
“Going forward, we hope to move quickly by taking concrete steps, starting with curriculum matchmaking at the faculty level. From there, we will prepare UNAIR’s top students to become competitive candidates for this program,” he said.
