UNAIR distributes 10,000 Ramadan blessing packages across East Java

UNAIR NEWS – Providing support during the holy month of Ramadan, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) is distributing 10,000 aid packages to communities in need. The Ramadan blessing packages will be distributed to orphans, orphanages, and underprivileged families.

In his remarks, the Rector of UNAIR, Prof Dr Muhammad Madyan SE MSi MFin, explained that Ramadan is a month full of blessings and teaches people to strengthen faith, increase good deeds, and foster care for others. According to him, the momentum of Ramadan serves as a reminder that many people still need attention and care.

He stated that the distribution of Ramadan blessing packages is a manifestation of the spirit of sharing and social care within UNAIR. “We hope this assistance can provide benefits and help ease the burden of orphans, orphanages, and underprivileged families who receive it,” he said.

Prof. Madyan also said that the activity reflects UNAIR’s commitment to becoming an impactful university for society. Universities, he added, should not only serve as places to produce knowledge and outstanding graduates, but also must be present to provide benefits for the wider community.

“Activities of sharing and social care like today are one of the concrete steps taken by higher education institutions to contribute to society. This is also in line with UNAIR’s commitment in various indicators of the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, particularly in contributing to poverty alleviation and improving community welfare,” he stated.

He also expressed appreciation and gratitude to all donors, volunteers, and committees who contributed to this activity. Without the support and spirit of mutual cooperation from various parties, this noble activity would not have been successfully carried out.

“We hope that every package distributed today not only provides material assistance but also delivers messages of care, togetherness, and hope for those who receive it. May every good intention and deed we perform today be recorded by Allah SWT as worship and bring blessings to all of us,” he expressed.

Meanwhile, UNAIR’s Vice Rector for Resources, Prof. Ardianto SE Ak MSi, expressed his gratitude for being given the opportunity to share kindness with others. According to him, the packaging process of the Ramadan blessing packages was relatively faster compared to previous years. This achievement is the result of the hard work and mutual cooperation of all parties and educational staff at UNAIR.

“We hope that the distribution of these Ramadan blessing packages will run smoothly, safely, and bring blessings,” he stated.

In addition, the Head of Airlangga Institute for Learning and Growth, Dr. Eko Supeno Drs M Si, explained that the distribution activity has entered its 11th year. This year, UNAIR will distribute the packages to 18 regencies/cities in East Java, orphanages, and Bidikmisi students of UNAIR.

“God willing, the distribution process will take place over three days from Thursday to Saturday. Hopefully, next year UNAIR can distribute these Ramadan blessing packages more widely,” he explained.

This activity aligns with UNAIR’s efforts in poverty alleviation as outlined in SDG 1 No Poverty.
