UNAIR NEWS – The announcement of National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) marked a significant moment for Alvira Nur Azizah. At just 14 years and 7 months old, she secured admission to the undergraduate Pharmacy program at Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), making her one of the youngest students at the university this year.
Azizah said she was both surprised and delighted when she saw the result. She had long set her sights on Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) as her academic destination. “I was truly surprised and very happy. I did not expect to be accepted. I chose Pharmacy because I want to continue my studies from vocational high school in Industrial Pharmacy. Universitas Airlangga has one of the leading pharmacy programs in Indonesia and has always been my dream university,” Azizah said.
Early academic achievement
Azizah explained that her early admission was not the result of an acceleration program. She began kindergarten at an unusually young age. “My mother initially planned for me to repeat kindergarten because she felt I was too young to continue to Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, but my teachers did not allow it because they believed I was capable of keeping up with the curriculum,” she said.

When she enrolled in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, the school was also surprised by her age. “The principal accepted me with the consideration that I might need to repeat a grade later, possibly in fourth or fifth grade. However, until graduation, I was never asked to repeat a grade as initially considered,” she said. She also represented her school in the Mathematics Madrasah Science Competition (KSM) competition.
Study strategies
Regarding her study routine, Azizah said she consistently managed her time with discipline. After school and rest, she regularly studied after evening prayer until around 8 p.m. “My study tip is to focus on key points from the material first, then review and memorize them. The easiest time for me to absorb lessons is at night before sleeping and in the morning after waking up,” she said.
As she prepares for university life, as an only child, she acknowledged feeling some nervousness about entering a new environment. “I may feel a bit nervous because university life is different from school. However, I will adapt to the environment, new friends, and everything at Universitas Airlangga,” she said.
Looking ahead, Azizah aspires to become a skilled pharmacist. As an only child, she carries a strong motivation to succeed. “My personal motto is to keep striving until I succeed because I am an only child. I want to fulfill my parents’ expectations and make them proud,” she said.
In closing, Azizah encouraged other students to remain committed to their goals. “To everyone who is still striving, stay motivated in learning and never give up on your dreams. Do not forget to pray and ask for guidance,” she said.
