UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) is once again providing a platform for students from various ASEAN countries through the ASEAN University Network-Student Affairs Network (AUN-SAN) 2026. The event will take place from Wednesday (September 2, 2026) to Saturday (September 5, 2026) at Universitas Airlangga as the host university.
The forum will take place simultaneously with the VOX (Voice, Opportunity, and eXchange) Meeting. Approximately 50 delegates from 10 countries and 30 universities across the ASEAN region are expected to gather at the forum. Both events share the theme “Future Skills and Global Minds,” which emphasizes the importance of skills and a global mindset in addressing future challenges.
Strengthening competencies and collaboration
Vice Rector for Academic, Student, and Alumni Affairs Prof Ir Mochammad Amin Alamsjah MSi PhD explained that the forum will address several critical issues for student development, including sustainability learning initiatives, strategies to enhance student employability, and the use of digital literacy and artificial intelligence (AI).
In addition, participants will discuss student mobility for traineeships and independent study. According to Prof Alamsjah, the forum offers students the opportunity to develop their personal capacity while also opening up opportunities for collaboration in academic, research, and community development work.
“Students can learn from one another, including in building personal capacity, the education process, and the integration of AI into academic activities. They can also gain insight into the perspectives of students from other countries and adapt to a diverse environment, which will better prepare them to face future challenges,” he said.
Nurturing the growth of global networks
This marks the seventh edition of AUN-SAN and the second edition of the VOX Meeting, both part of UNAIR’s broader efforts to expand its international exposure. Interactions with students and partners from across the ASEAN region are expected to boost the confidence of the academic community while opening the door to new networks.
Prof Alamsjah noted that this partnership has the potential to expand into various forms of collaboration, from student exchanges and internships to educational mentoring at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels. UNAIR can also broaden its collaboration through guest lectures, visiting professors, research, and community development activities.
In his view, interacting with international partners during college can serve as valuable preparation for students as they enter the professional world. “We hope this event will empower students to be ready to become future leaders, both at the regional and international levels,” he said.
In his closing remarks, Prof Alamsjah encouraged members of UNAIR’s academic community to seize this opportunity. “Take advantage of this opportunity so that this event can have a broader impact on the advancement of knowledge and the UNAIR academic community’s network,” he said.
