UNAIR NEWS – The Ministry of Gender Equality and Justice (KKG) of the Student Executive Board (BEM) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) held PeriodCare as an education space on menstrual health and women’s reproductive health for students at the Joint Lecture Building (GKB) 2.06, MERR-C Campus, UNAIR, Saturday (September 19, 2026). The event featured a seminar, talk show, and health consultations to deepen students’ understanding of reproductive health and the psychological aspects related to menstruation.
Menstruation still often carries stigma, leaving some individuals with limited access to information and open spaces for discussion. Through PeriodCare, KKG BEM UNAIR offered education on women’s reproductive health. The main topics covered menstrual health, understanding one’s body, and the importance of caring for women’s reproductive well-being.

Presenting education from health and psychology perspectives
In her presentation on women’s reproductive health, Dr Riska Wahyuningtias SpOG MKedKlin explained the importance of understanding menstrual conditions and recognizing certain signs that require medical attention. Her material helped participants understand that any change in the body deserves attention as part of maintaining reproductive health.
Valina Khiarin Nisa SPsi MSc then discussed the mental health aspects related to menstrual experience. In her presentation, she explained the importance of understanding the relationship between psychological condition and individual experience throughout the menstrual cycle.
The series of PeriodCare events also included a Fact or Myth session on menstruation, a talk show, and interactive discussions with participants. Through these sessions, students had the opportunity to ask questions and get information directly from the speakers.
Beyond the seminar, PeriodCare offered health consultation services for participants. This service gave students a space to discuss reproductive health with guidance from professionals with relevant expertise.
The Person in Charge (PIC) at PeriodCare, Nabilla Permata Kaharuddin, explained that the event was designed so that the education would not be one-directional.
“We designed the series specifically so the education wouldn’t just be a one-way lecture. We want participants to feel comfortable asking questions and talking about things that were previously considered taboo,” Kaharuddin said.
Building a space for women’s health discussions on campus
Through PeriodCare, KKG BEM UNAIR seeks to create an educational space that supports students’ understanding of menstrual health and women’s reproductive health. This event is expected to encourage students to be more open in seeking accurate health information and to understand the importance of maintaining reproductive health.
