UNAIR NEWS – As one of the best state universities in Indonesia, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) continues to improve its education quality. It is reflected in various study programs that have gained national and international accreditations. The Doctoral Program in Accounting Science recently gained Excellent accreditation from the Independent Accreditation Institute for Economics, Business, Management, and Accounting (LAMEMBA).
LAMEMBA is an institution that assesses the process of study programs in the Fields of Economics, Management, Business, and Accounting. The institute was initiated by the Association of Indonesian Economic Scholars (ISEI), the Association of Indonesian Accountants (IAI), and the Association of Indonesian Faculty of Economics and Business (AFEBI).
On January 2, 2023, Head of Accounting Science study program (Kaprodi), Dr. Noorlailie Soewarno SE MBA CMA Ak, said that the excellent achievement is an acknowledgment of the quality of education and curriculum in UNAIR, in this case, Accounting Science study program.
“Their assessments showed many of our items are of international standards. For example, there are many lecturer and student publications in Scopus journals, international seminars, then student outbound. And we also have international students,” she said.
Furthermore, the Accounting Science study program also performs benchmarking with the curriculum used at the world’s top universities. With that, the quality of graduates and teachers will be able to compete globally. It is evidenced by international accreditations that have also been obtained, such as ABEST21 to FIBAA.
“62.5 percent of our lecturers or permanent lecturers are professors, so the quality is definitely good. Because professors must have good publications, good teaching methods, and professional certification,” she added.
The accreditation achievement, according to her, is from reputations cultivated over a long time. In addition, it was not just a personal achievement but was carried out through strong collaboration between students, lecturers, faculties, and universities.
“How these lecturers guide their students to improve publications also requires extraordinary efforts. So it’s not instantaneous. It’s a long process,” she explained.
It adds to its own selling value in the community. Finally, UNAIR Accounting study program will be a choice with distinction for educators who wish to continue their studies.
“We are leading in eastern Indonesia. However, the diversity of our students is not only in eastern Indonesia but from Sabang to Merauke. That’s why our position is very strategic, “ she concluded.
She hopes that in the future, the Accounting Science study program will be able to develop further and obtain other accreditations. Of course, it will be easy when all the elements work together. (*)
