UNAIR NEWS – The Directorate of Career Development, Entrepreneurship Incubation, and Alumni Affairs (DPKKA) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has hosted another Airlangga Career, Entrepreneurship, and Scholarship Fair (ACESFA). The 40th edition of ACESFA spanned two days, held at the Airlangga Convention Centre (ACC) on the MERR-C campus, from Tuesday to Wednesday (September 24–25, 2024).

ACESFA is one of the most anticipated events organized by DPKKA, drawing significant student interest. This year’s event featured various activities designed to promote career advancement and scholarship opportunities, including live sessions with companies, corporate consultation booths, a scholarship expo, and CV reviews. The scholarship expo, in particular, attracted substantial attention from both students and alumni.

One of the top institutions on the first day of the scholarship expo (Tuesday, September 24, 2024) was the Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP), under the Ministry of Finance. LPDP offers financial aid to students pursuing master’s and doctoral degrees.

Ari, a representative from LPDP, explained that their funding for research and study programs is derived from the National Education Endowment Fund. “As of 2024, the cumulative realization of the endowment fund in education since 2010 has reached 154.107 trillion rupiahs,” he stated.

This significant financial commitment is intended to support Indonesian students pursuing advanced degrees both domestically and abroad, with the hope that the program will not only advance their studies but also to contribute meaningfully to the nation.

Ari also revealed that, between 2023 and 2024, 49,838 students have been awarded LPDP scholarships. Of these recipients, 33% come from the private sector, while 66% represent the public sector. He added that the acceptance rate for LPDP applicants is approximately one in five.

“Out of approximately 20,000 applicants, this year LPDP provided funding for around 4,000 to 5,000 students. This means the competition is about one in five. This should be quite manageable for UNAIR students, so stay motivated!” he encouraged.

Ari shared tips for successfully securing an LPDP scholarship. He emphasized that applicants should embrace the entire application process, from administrative tasks to the scholastic aptitude test and interviews. By doing so, they can maximize their potential at each stage. Lastly, he advised applicants to thoroughly research their chosen universities, programs, and study destinations, and to be authentic when writing application essays.
