UNAIR NEWS — Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE) hosted an international scholarship information session on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Chairil Anwar Hall, Faculty of Humanities, Dharmawangsa-B Campus, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR). The session featured the City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) as both a partner institution and the main presenter.

The event aimed to provide UNAIR students with detailed information about academic programs, scholarship opportunities, and the academic and cultural experiences available at CityUHK—recognized as one of Asia’s leading universities. The initiative is designed to inspire and equip UNAIR students to pursue graduate studies at the institution.

Prof. Sylvia Kwok Lai, Associate Dean of the Chow Yeung Ching School of Graduate Studies and a faculty member in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences, attended in person and led a presentation highlighting the range of educational opportunities available at CityUHK.

Prof. Kwok Lai described Hong Kong as a small but densely populated region with a highly strategic geographic location, making it a prime destination for higher education. She emphasized Hong Kong’s robust Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which stands on par with major world cities, reflecting the region’s competitiveness and quality as a global study destination.

“We collaborate with several world-class universities, including Harvard University and the University of Chicago in the U.S., the University of Oxford in Europe, and the National University of Singapore (NUS) in Asia,” she said.

CityUHK has continued to rise in global academic rankings. According to the QS World University Rankings 2025, it ranks 62nd worldwide and 10th in Asia, based on the Asia University Rankings 2025. As a center of innovation, CityUHK brings together key elements such as research, intellectual property management, talent development, and access to markets and industries.

The university’s School of Creative Media (SCM) has also broadened its international academic presence through research partnerships and student exchange programs. SCM currently collaborates with 17 top art schools across 10 countries and territories. One of its longstanding partnerships is with the Shared Campus consortium, which brings together prestigious institutions for joint initiatives including art ecology research, shared summer schools, and transcultural collaboration projects.

“At SCM, we are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion as the foundation of our institutional strength. Through interdisciplinary and intercultural engagement, we create a learning environment that is both inclusive and dynamic. Our research seminars and discussion panels bridge the fields of art, science, humanities, and technology,” she added.
