Airlangga Startup Summit Innovation Expo shows UNAIR innovators’ works

UNAIR NEWS – Business ecosystem and product innovation are some of the concerns of Universitas Airlangga. One activity to strengthen them was carried out by BPBRIN UNAIR by holding the Airlangga Startup Summit Innovation Expo or ASSIE, December 1-3, 2023.

ASSIE, which was held for the first time, took place at Grand City Mall Surabaya, Jl. Walikota Mustajab No.1, Ketabang, Kec. Genteng, Surabaya. The Startup Business Development and Incubation Agency or BPBRIN Universitas Airlangga held the expo by inviting 68 startups, faculties, and various centers and institutions throughout UNAIR.

The opening was held on Friday, December 1 2023 at 13.40 WIB. Several important guests attended the opening of ASSIE, including the Head of BPBRIN UNAIR Prof. Dr Muhammad Nafik Hadi Ryandono SE MSi, Head of the Administration Subdivision of the Secretariat of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research and Technology as well as Commitment Management Officer for the Matching Fund Program, Didi Rustam, Vice Rector for Internationalization, Digitalization and Information (IDI) Prof Muhammad Miftahussurur dr M.Kes Sp.PD-KGEH Ph.D, Vice Rector for Academic, Student and Alumni Affairs Prof Dr Bambang Sektiari Lukiswanto DEA Drh, and the Dean of Faculty of Advanced Technology and Multidiscipline Prof Dr Dwi Setyawan S.Si M.Si Apt.

The event was opened with a prayer and a Remo Dance performance. The first speech was delivered by Prof. Nafik as Head of BPBRIN UNAIR. He said that he wanted to build the ecosystem so that academics could have products and when they retired they would also have royalties. “So that academics can have products that are useful for society,” he said.

The next speech was from Didi Rustam. On behalf of Dikti, he congratulated the first ASSIE. “We from Dikti always support similar programs,” he stressed. Didi also added that for 3 years, UNAIR had received matching funds of 72 billion rupiah. Matching fund is the funding for universities and their industry partners in developing innovation.

The final speech was from Prof Muhammad Miftahussurur dr MKes Sp.PD-KGEH PhD FINASIM, who represented UNAIR Vice Rector Prof Dr. Mohammad Nasih SE MT Ak CA. In his speech, Prof. Miftah congratulated the inventors of Universitas Airlangga. “Hopefully the results of your inventions can become good deeds and also provide extraordinary benefits for the Indonesian people,” he hoped.

According to him, events like this can make Universitas Airlangga products known better and recognized by the public. “The output can be collaborated with other parties,” said the professor of Internal Medicine.

After the opening of 1st ASSIE 1, 5 innovative products were launched: Bangga Electric Vehicle Charging Station, Smart Phototherapy System Airlangga Bilirubin Nesting (AirBiliNest), Caesarean Section Mannequin, Excelzyme Environmentally Friendly Products, and Extra Allergen Products. There was also the launch of the new logo for the Universitas Airlangga Business and Technology Incubator or IBT-UNAIR.
