Through the MBKM program, which was held in 10 locations in East Java, FKH UNAIR provides students with real-world learning experiences. Students get to practice their understandings in the field of veterinary, such as animal clinics, Dairy Cooperatives (KUD Sapi Perah), and animal health centers (puskeswan) located in 10 regions of East Java.

“The MBKM program will provide added value for students, distinguishing them from previous graduates. The concept of MBKM is that we can learn anywhere, anytime, and from anyone,” said Prof. Dr. Widjiati MSi drh, the Head of the MBKM program.

Becoming a pioneer

The Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Prof. Dr. Mirni Lamid MP drth mentioned that the MBKM program FKH UNAIR held is the first program conducted by a Faculty of Veterinary Medicine across Indonesia. The program will go down in history as a pioneer for FKH UNAIR. In the future, students who participate in the MBKM program will receive recognition for 20 credit hours (SKS).

“The MBKM policy implemented by FKH UNAIR is based on Ministry of Education and Culture Regulation No. 3 of 2020. This program provides students with a broad opportunity to enrich their knowledge and competencies according to their abilities,” she said.

She further added that the outcomes of the MBKM program can also support Key Performance Indicator (KPI) 2, where students can gain experiences outside campus. Hence, the MBKM program helps the university to meet the target.

“Through this KPI, the campus is expected to provide more facilities to students. They should not only learn passively in classrooms but also acquire valuable experiences outside the classroom,” said the Veterinary Extension lecture.

Protection for BPJS Ketenagakerjaan

To ensure the safety of students, Prof. Mirni stated that FKH UNAIR has carefully organized transportation to minimize the risk of travel accidents. Furthermore, to safeguard the well-being of students, FKH UNAIR has also facilitated health insurance through BPJS Ketenagakerjaan for students.

“We’ve provided health insurance which has been obtained from the faculty. We cover everything. Wherever the students are, you are already covered by BPJS Ketenagakerjaan,” said Prof. Mirni.

“We believe that the program will help students to grow into competent and dedicated veterinary professionals. Hopefully, this program will also accommodate the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine to progress further in the future,” she said.
