Celebrating its 11th anniversary, RSUA launches five new services

UNAIR NEWSUniversitas Airlangga Hospital (RSUA) has just celebrated its 11th anniversary. A series of activities were held, such as mass circumcision and fun bike. RSUA also held Gathering Ceremony themed Building Synergy for a Brighter Future of Health Care. It was held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at the Dharmawangsa Hall, 8th Floor of RSUA.

The Director of RSUA, Prof Dr Nasronudin dr Sp PD KPTI-FINASIM, said that in 11 years, the hospital has contributed to developing teaching hospitals in Indonesia.

“The pandemic, other than bringing an epidemic that shook the world, also brought wisdom. The wisdom was RSUA owned some cutting-edge tools. Some of them are Medical Assistant Robot of ITS-Airlangga collaboration RAISA, tool to move a patient from the bed to a wheelchair to prevent direct contact, a tool to help burial and many more,” he mentioned.

Innovation in Covid-19 treatment has started to boost. The collaboration resulted in the breakthrough of several universities to independent medical check-up tools made by UNAIR academicians. He said that the presence of antimicrobial coating co-film could reach places with the potential for virus spread. For example, railing bed, safety grab, water tap, door handle, chair handle, table, etc.

“The breakthrough could minimalize cost. What was usually wasted and buy a new one, now we can just replace the coating,” he said.

During the event, RSUA also launched five new services. The services are THC (Thalassemia & Hemophilia Center), UPTOPA (Integrated Service Unit of Oncology and Aseptic Preparation); Outpatient Pharmacy Drug Delivery Service; Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis Service Unit (CAPD); and Research Laboratory.

Furthermore, the Head of the UNAIR Hospital Board, Prof Dr Umi Athiyah Dra MS Apt, emphasized that the great patients’ trust for RSUA was from various parties’ support.

“11 years old biologically seems small. Perhaps still in third or fourth grade in elementary school. However, today 11 years old has become an amazing achievement age. Thank you, Prof Nasron, for the direction thus far,” she expressed.

In line with the theme, Prof Umi mentioned that future RSUA would work for the benefits of higher education tri dharma. In this regard, UNAIR Rector Prof Dr Mohammad Nasih SE MT AK advises that as it grow older, RSUA professionalism should be improved and ready to contribute significantly on a local, national, and international scale.

“We’re ‘buying the future with today’s price’. It means that whatever we will get in the future must be done today. Therefore, RSUA will be a pioneer in the healthcare,” he emphasized.

Prof Nasih also mentioned that the achievement of UNAIR in reaching the World’s Top 369 was also the result of RSUA’s contribution. Therefore, he hoped that research publications are not only intended to avoid obligations, but also becomes the hospital branding.

“Happy 11th Anniversary, RSUA. Keep contributing to the country and Indonesian community,” he expressed.
