UNAIR NEWS – As one of the best universities in Indonesia, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) believes that education is the key to success. In 2022 National Education Day Commemoration Ceremony, which has themed Leading Recovery, Advancing Towards Freedom of Learning, Friday. May 13, 2022, UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih SE MT Ak outlined five strategic initiatives called SMART and a slogan called HEBAT. The initiatives are UNAIR’s commitment to instill the importance of education by creating a conducive educational environment.

Prof. Nasih explained that the five strategic initiatives called SMART will always be associated with the use of the latest technology. SMART is an acronym for:

S : Sustainable Education For All

M : Meaningful Research and Community Services

A : Advancing Innovation, Enterprising, and Industry Linkages

R : Responsive and Lean Management

T : Topping up Tangible and Intangible Resource Utilization

UNAIR HEBAT

The slogan, HEBAT, is intended to inspire students in developing character, both during and after studying at UNAIR. HEBAT is an acronym for:

H : Humble- Honest

E : Excellent

B : Brave

A : Agile

T : Transcendent

Being ranked #456 in the world according to QS WUR 2022, Prof. Nasih emphasized that SMART and HEBAT must be implemented so that UNAIR can become one of the universities among Top 100 universities in the world.

Importance of education

“The important value of education is the improvement of behavior,” explained Prof. Nasih. That is why, UNAIR as one of the best state universities in Indonesia instills SMART and HEBAT as common foundation in pursuing a quality education.

However, Prof. Nasih emphasized that the output that will be obtained depends on each individual working on it. “Our own desires and eagerness will lead to our success,” he explained. (*)
