Discussing potential partnership, UNAIR SDGs Center meets Padepokan ASA Yogyakarta

UNAIR NEWS – Manager of ASA, Achmad Sofyan, has received a visit from SDGs Center of Universitas Airlangga, Hakim Zulkarnain S Kep MSN and team. The visit was held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at Padepokan Hall, Wedomertani village, Ngemplak district, Sleman, Special Region of Yogyakarta.

“We come here to strengthen ties and discuss the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” said Hakim.

The Nursing lecturer at UNAIR specifically said that the potential partnerships can be executed in SDG 4, SDG 8, and SDG 17. “The most relevant for partnerships are SDG 4, SDG 8, and SDG 17,” he stated.

The visit strengthened the Hexahelix collaboration of UNAIR SDGs Center to support the development and the growth of sustainability issues.

Hakim introduced UNAIR SDGs Center, its achievements, and the obstacles faced in the SDGs implementation. “We are a newly established SDGs Center. We still need to learn more,” Hakim said.

Corresponding to the statement, the Manager of Padepokan ASA, Ahmad Sofyan or Uta said that SDG 4 regarding the ‘quality education’ aligned to the padepokan.

“After a study, the potential opportunity for us to collaborate lies in the SDG 4,” he said.

Uta said that the Padepokan have collaborated with many growing local communities in Yogyakarta.

“Padepokan ASA provides public space for the local communities in Yogyakarta,” he said.

Sofyan further named three activities prohibited in the Padepokan ASA Yogyakarta.

“We provide the space for free, but we do not permit three activities done here. First, the agenda cannot use sponsorship; second, it cannot be used to organize religious activities, such as religious gathering; third, activities that involve political parties or the affiliated ones,” he emphasized.

Sofyan further explained that the Padepokan ASA is an incubator to gather people with experts. “Many notable figures have been here, like Ahmad Zaki and William Tanuwijaya from Bukalapak, Rex Marindo from Warunk Upnormal, the journalist and environmentalist Dandhy Dwi Laksono, and Najwa Shihab through online meeting via Zoom,” said Sofyan.

Furthermore, he said that the Padepokan ASA management is pleased with the knowledge-sharing session with UNAIR SDGs Center. “Next time, our management will visit Surabaya,” he said.
