UNAIR NEWS – As an effort to empower developing countries, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) provides several scholarships for international students from developing countries to study at UNAIR. These scholarship programs are UNAIR’s supports in alleviating global poverty, which is the first of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Airlangga Development Scholarship (ADS)

Airlangga Development Scholarship (ADS) is an educational assistance program offered to international students interested in studying in the Master’s (S2) and Doctoral (S3) programs.

UNAIR Director of Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Sukardiman MS Apt said that this scholarship, which was initiated in 2014, is a form of UNAIR’s commitment to screening students with the potential to develop in their home country.

“UNAIR provides easy access to education for prospective students with excellent academic abilities who are financially disadvantaged. So students can continue their studies at UNAIR for a better education and future,” he said.

Developing Countries Partnership (KNB) Scholarship

UNAIR is also trusted to host international students of the Developing Countries Partnership (KNB) Scholarship from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbud Ristek). KNB scholarships are offered to students from developing countries to continue their undergraduate, master’s or doctoral studies at selected universities in Indonesia, including UNAIR. This year, the KNB program opens registration until February 18, 2023, on https://knb.kemdikbud.go.id/ website.

With the two programs, Prof. Sukardiman hopes international students can improve their intellectuality, competence, and get more professional opportunities.

“Because apart from providing a good learning experience, international students at UNAIR can also directly coexist with a multicultural and multilingual society,” he said.

Furthermore, international students at UNAIR can participate in activities organized by Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE), such as Field Trips, Cultural Trips, International Students Association (ISA), Journal coaching, International Community Development, and other activities.

Commitment to a Global Community

Besides UNAIR’s commitment to helping the global community face socio-economic challenges, UNAIR facilitates these programs to create better human resources, especially for developing countries.

The KNB program from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, and ADS, which UNAIR organizes, have made impacts on hundreds of students from various countries. This contribution then accelerated UNAIR’s achievements in various global scale rankings, including being ranked 201-300 in the world and ranked 5th in Indonesia according to THE Impact Ranking. (*)
