UNAIR NEWS – The Department of Information and Library Science (IIP) at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), in partnership with the Surabaya Office of Culture, Youth, Sports, and Tourism (Disbudporapar), held a community engagement program on Wednesday (October 8, 2025). The initiative, titled Repacking Digital Information as an Innovation in Museum Services in Surabaya City, aimed to promote digital innovation and strengthen museum information management across the city.
The program team consisted of IIP UNAIR faculty members and students, led by Prof. Dr. Koko Srimulyo, Drs., M.Si., with team members Prof. Dr. Rahma Sugihartati, Dra., M.Si., Ragil Tri Atmi, S.IIP., M.A., and several students. The activities included educational workshops on digital information repackaging for museum public relations officers, training on digital content management for museum administrators, and website development sessions for the Musea communication team.
Website as gateway to knowledge
As part of the event, the team officially launched a new website. UNAIR’s Vice-Rector for Ecosystem, Entrepreneurship, and Business Development, Prof. Dr. Koko Srimulyo, emphasized that strong human resources are vital in preserving and managing sources of knowledge. In today’s digital disruption era, he noted, websites play a key role in ensuring public access to credible information.
“Our human resources must be resilient and capable of protecting knowledge at its source. A website serves as an effective and strategic medium for information dissemination in this digital era,” he stated.

The newly launched musea.surabaya.go.id website reflects UNAIR’s commitment to implementing the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi—education, research, and community service—in ways that deliver tangible benefits to society and local industries. The platform also reinforces the Surabaya Musea’s presence as an interactive and accessible channel for cultural information and communication.
Head of the Surabaya Office of Culture, Youth, Sports, and Tourism, Ir. Hidayat Syah, M.T., expressed hope that the website would not only attract more visitors to Surabaya’s museums but also serve as a valuable reference for the public. He added that the team plans to continuously monitor the project’s progress to ensure ongoing development and community impact.
“The team will regularly evaluate improvements in website management skills and increases in museum visitor engagement. This initiative underscores our shared commitment to nurturing an informed and culturally conscious society,” he said.
