Indonesia faces a pressing challenge: despite some improvements, its Food Security Index (FSI) remained in the low “Priority 4” category
Faculty of Dental Medicine Universitas Airlangga is the oldest faculty of dental medicine in Indonesia. From 1928 to 1942, FKG was called School Tot Opleiding van Indische Tandartsen (STOVIT). Then it was changed to Ika Daigaku Shika until 1945, Tandheelkundig Instituut until 1947, Universiteir Tandheelkundig Instituut until 1948, and Institute of Dental Medicine until 1953 and in 1954 it was officially called FKG UNAIR.
As time goes by, FKG UNAIR is aspired to become an education institution of dental medicine based on research of international standards to improve the welfare of Indonesia and international community based on religious morality. Therefore, FKG UNAIR took some measures to organize nad develop the academic, professional and specialist education by exploiting the local and international researches as the main source of its learning.
To date, FKG UNAIR has produced competent graduates with quality and entrepreneurship through student-centered learning and life-long learning method in the management of stomatognatic system to improve the level of community health based on ethics. FKG UNAIR also produces graduates capable of conducting researches on basic medical-dental medicine, public health and applied medical dental medicine either independently or in forms of joint researches oriented to the functionality and always takes the ethics and intellectual property rights into account.
