UNAIR NEWS – Internships are essential for students to implement the knowledge they acquired from college. The Joint Emancipated Study Internship (MSIB) is one of the programs by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbud Ristek) that facilitates students with internship programs. Through MSIB, students have the opportunity to experience internships in renowned companies.

Albar Muhammad Aziz, an Islamic Economics third-year student at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), participated in MSIB at the Financial Services Authority (OJK). This semester marks Albar’s second participation in MSIB at the same company. Albar gained valuable internship experience through MSIB at OJK.

” I wasn’t very prepared either, but I was active in competitions and organizations in the third semester. Maybe that’s one of the factors that improved my chances. As for other tips, maybe reading the OJK roadmap,” said Albar.

According to Albar, understanding the OJK roadmap is crucial to preparing ideas aligned with OJK’s future goals.

Albar also mentioned that his experiences in competitions relevant to the field of economics broadened his economic knowledge. Furthermore, experiences in organizations such as the Islamic Economics Association and the Association of Sharia Economics Studies (AcSES) accustomed Albar to discussions. It indirectly prepared him for interviews during the MSIB selection process.

During this internship period, Albar had the opportunity to be part of the Islamic banking product development team. He had many discussions with insurance association representatives and even the World Bank. Albar felt this experience contributed to improving his work ethic.

For Albar, MSIB is useful in bridging the gap between academic knowledge and industry requirements. This is crucial preparation before entering the professional world.

He also added, “I highly recommend participating in an internship at OJK, especially for Islamic Economics students. At OJK, we truly get meaningful tasks and responsibilities.”
