In the women’s category, Meli Marta Rosita secured Indonesia’s third gold in the -48 kg class. Her victories over opponents from Cambodia, Thailand, and Malaysia highlighted her tactical prowess and determination.

Despite Indonesia’s strong showing, Maryam March Maharani settled for silver in the women’s -52 kg category, facing tough competition from Malaysia’s Farra Izzati Wallah.

Ratiyono, an Indonesian judo official, attributed Indonesia’s impressive performance to rigorous year-long preparations. “They have been preparing for almost a year since they finished the student championship at UPI Bandung. Some have undergone national training camps,” he explained.

Looking forward, Ratiyono expressed confidence in Indonesia’s Judo potential, aiming for success not only in Southeast Asia but also on broader international stages, including the Asian and Olympic levels.

“Our young athletes have the potential at the regional level in Southeast Asia. In the future, we aim to elevate their performance at the Asian and Olympic levels,” added Ratiyono.

Finally, Ratiyono expressed appreciation for the organization of AUG 2024. He praised UNAIR for providing a venue and facilities that were fitting for the judo competitions. “Lastly, I would like to thank UNAIR for preparing such representative facilities for judo,” he concluded.
