First stop
Fahri explained that the students from Germany initially had the option to visit other countries, but they chose to visit Indonesia as they have never visited Indonesia before.
“They believed that Indonesia was one of the unique countries, and they had never been to Indonesia before, so they chose to do the PKL in Indonesia. Surabaya wasn’t the first stop; they had previously visited Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Surakarta, Surabaya, and Bali,” he said.

During an interview, he recounted the activities during the visit to Dharmawangsa-B Campus, Universitas Airlangga. Fahri and others invited the German students to visit the ethnographic museum and some places in the FISIP UNAIR Building.
Exploring Surabaya’s tourism
After touring around the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, they invited the German students to visit the ancient village of Maspati to observe local ethnicities and arts. The German students tried traditional games there.
The concluding activity of the PKL took place at the Balai Pemuda. The event culminated in a performance of the Reog Ponorogo dance for the German students. Furthermore, they extended an invitation to one German student representative to depict Dewi Songgolangit.
“I’m proud and relieved. Aside from honing creativity and international communication, this program also aligns with one of the missions of BEM FISIP UNAIR; internationalization,” Fahri concluded.
