A while ago, five study programs at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UNAIR got internationally accredited by the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA). The five study programs are International Relations, State Administration, Information and Library Sciences, and Communications. “The accreditation is not just important for the institution, but as an honor for the academic staff, especially for the alumni,” said Prof Dr Bagong Suyanto Drs MSi, the Dean of FISIP UNAIR, during a phone interview with UNAIR NEWS on Wednesday, July 13, 2022.
FIBAA is a leading accrediting agency based in Europe. The international agency focuses on the quality assurance and development in higher education.
According to Prof Bagong, the FIBAA accreditation is one of UNAIR’s internationalization program. He claimed that it is important for study programs to seek international recognition through accreditation as a development of learning and managerial qualities.
“The accreditation is a pillar to improve UNAIR and the faculties international reputations. The other three study programs [in FISIP] will follow,” he added.
For him, it will challenge the institutions and students. Furthermore, students will be required to continue developing their quality and competence to be able to compete with others.
“Our next target is the institutional accreditation, followed by the students and alumni competences, lecturers and academic staff by rank, it will be an ongoing process,” he ended.
