UNAIR NEWS – The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPK) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has officially sent off seven students to participate in an outbound program at Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (Unisza) in Trengganu, Malaysia. The send-off ceremony was held on Friday, July 12, 2024, at the FPK UNAIR building.
The selected students, Rehan Fitrianto, Achmad Saif Alif Amrullah, Darunna’im Fithri, Iskandar Suhud, Mu’adz, Vemas Mahendra Putra, and Eristha Salma Ramadhina, all major in Aquaculture, are from two different admission years, they will commence this program on August 5.
To join this program, the seven students underwent a selection process based on their application documents, conducted by the faculty. This selection aimed to ensure that the chosen participants have the appropriate qualifications to engage in this international program.
Outbound activities
Over two weeks, the participants will attend courses covering local biodiversity, including plants, insects, fish, and aquatic ecosystems. These courses will employ face-to-face learning and blended learning methods, incorporating practical sessions and field visits.
“The knowledge we will gain about biodiversity will be extensive, as it’s not just organized by the faculty of fisheries,” added Eristha.
During the send-off event, FPK Dean Prof. Moch Amin Alamsjah advised the participants to take care of themselves, uphold the university’s reputation, and support each other while abroad.
“Remember to take care of yourselves and uphold UNAIR’s good name. You are not just students but also the intelligent young generation of Indonesia. We hope this program continues, allowing us to send more students, including those pursuing their master’s or doctorate degrees,” said Prof. Alamsjah.
Additionally, Vice Dean I Dr. Woro Hastuti Satyantini emphasized the importance of maintaining good relations, punctuality, and tolerance among participants during the program.
This outbound program reflects UNAIR’s commitment to broadening students’ international perspectives and strengthening collaborations. The students are expected to return with knowledge and experiences to share with their peers at the faculty and university levels.
