UNAIR NEWS – Institute for Innovation, Journal Development, Publishing, and Intellectual Property Rights (LIPJPHKI) Universitas Airlangga held a dissemination on the Funding Institutional platform on Monday, April 17, 2023. LIPJPHKI’s Ranking and Publication Coordinator, Ayu Lana Nafisyah SPi MSc PhD, was the guest speaker at the event.
This Funding Institutional is a platform owned by Elsevier which contains a database of active research funding opportunities both from within the country and abroad. “This is an information strategy for research programs through assistance seeking active and accurate funding opportunities,” explained Ayu.
This online platform, she continued, contains information from more than 5,000 research funding organizations, both government and private, from various fields of science. Moreover, this platform also provides information on research grants from various institutions or organizations.
Various advantages
Funding Institutional can be accessed using an Elsevier account owned by the researcher. Furthermore, researchers can accessed data on funding opportunities, recipients of research funds, and providers of research funds. This platform also provides a heat map menu useful for knowing the country of origin of research funding at Funding Institutional.
By using Funding Institutional, researchers can easily find research funding information using existing filters. Researchers can search for funding based on field of study, type of funding, country, and so on.
“Here, you can get all the information related to funding opportunities. For example, from the description, eligibility, who can register because maybe the requirements are limited to citizens of certain countries,” Ayu explained.
Funding Institutional also helps researchers to connect directly with research funders. “You can go to the official website of the funder. And, of course, you can also get analysis from the funder,” said Ayu, a lecturer at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPK) UNAIR.
Another useful feature for researchers is the suggestion menu which provides research funding suggestions based on the researcher’s self-analysis. In the Suggestion menu, researchers can enter their name, Scopus ID, or Orchid ID, and Funding Institutional will suggest any research funding suitable for the researcher. (*)
