In this regard, Garuda Sakti SIKIA Banyuwangi UNAIR facilitates the students as the Agent of Changes to make innovations and creativity that will bring positive transformations in the future. One of its supports is the Outstanding Student workshop held on April 9, 2022. It aimed to brief the students about the stages of joining Outstanding Student selection.
According to the chief executive Shinta Nailul Faroha, three key topics are highlighted in the activity. One of the three is the main topic that should be known well when signing up for the outstanding student selection.
“The main topic we provided was the resume writing, and all about outstanding student materials, both of them are the early stage to ace further in the next process,”
The event also had Afan Alfayad, the finalist and representative of Faculty of Public Health SIKIA Banyuwangi UNAIR. In the sharing session, Afan explained that seven basic things should be provided: personal data, educational background, organizational experience, leadership, volunteer experience, achievement, skills and interests.
“All of them are essential basics, especially the achievement section. Excellent design and comprehensible language will add points to the resume,” he said.
Submitted resumes will be carefully filtered in the early stage of outstanding student selection. Therefore, Afan suggested that participants should carefully consider the content of their resumes.
“The content of the resume should be thoroughly extensive. If the student does not have any achievements or skills to be listed in the resume, it will take more time to prepare. Then, you may make a plan to compete in the selection,” Afan said.
A well-written resume is one of student’s personal branding tools which runs in the long term. Afan further elaborated that personal branding is continuous, and an outstanding student will always be looked up to as the role model for others.
“An outstanding student should constantly learning to fulfil the people’s high expectations regarding the achievement. Indirectly, we will put more effort to improve ourselves to match up with the tag. This is one of the highlighted benefits in the outstanding student selection,” Afan said.
He added the contest will also offer a greater network at the faculty and university levels. All the participants will be assembled in one forum that allows them to meet talented people from their respective faculties and exchange learning and experiences.
“An outstanding student’s performance goals is pretty high. It’s an appreciaton of the university to the students for highly determined to join the contest,” Afan explained, ending the interview.
