GEN Corps FKp UNAIR turns organic waste into ecoenzyme

UNAIR NEWS – Green Nursing Corps (GEN Corps) Faculty of Nursing UNAIR held an ECOENZYME agenda: “Ecoenzyme to create environmentally friendly products”. The event took place at the RK Orem Building, FKp Campus MERR C, on Wednesday, August 10, 2023. The event was held in two stages, a debriefing seminar and a demonstration of making ecoenzyme.

“This is a seminar and demonstration of making ecoenzymeEcoenzyme is a product of organic waste fermentation, such as fruit and vegetable waste during the three months of the fermentation process,” said Ariel Kafila Soffa, General Chairman of GEN Corps.

GEN Corps collaborated with East Java Ecoenzyme NusantaraIt also invited Luh Nyoman Nurniti SKep Ns MSM and Pudji Astuti SKep Ns as the main mentors in the Ecoenzyme debriefing.

Follow-up efforts for Ecoenzyme activities 

Ariel explained that organic waste can produce methane gas which causes global warming, so the program is expected to become a big agenda to reduce and utilize organic waste. Moreover, it can be useful in everyday life.

“The follow-up to this event is to produce Ecoenzyme products that are environmentally friendly,” she said

Ariel further mentioned several products that could develop, including bath soap, air freshener spray, external medicine for wound care, and other household products. She also said that all participants are expected to be able to set an example in efforts to manage and minimize waste problems.

“Thus, small activities from the community can have an impact on reducing global warming,” she concluded.
