UNAIR NEWS – Pregnancy danger symptoms signal high-risk conditions for both the mother and the fetus. Seeking immediate help at the nearest healthcare facility is crucial if any signs are present. Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Airlangga on Dokter UNAIR TV YouTube channel discussed the danger signs of pregnancy and its prevention on Friday, Dec 29, 2023.
Obstetrician and gynecologist Hanifah Erlin Dharmayanti Sp OG MM responded to this issue. According to her, the severity of the dangers must be widely known, especially by pregnant women, families, and husbands. Dr. Hanifah said that every pregnancy has some risk. There are two categorizations of pregnant women: Low-Risk Pregnancies (KRR) and High-Risk Pregnancies (KRT).
“During pregnancy, it is possible for pregnant women to experience several morphological changes in the body. General complaints will usually go away on their own, but there are certain conditions that pregnant women need to be aware of,” said Dr. Hanifah.
Recognize signs of danger in pregnant mothers.
The risks vary from mild to severe and can be influenced by various factors, including the mother’s health condition, family health history, mother’s age, and environmental factors. One potential problem in pregnant women is bleeding. Bleeding during pregnancy is a condition that occurs quite often in the early trimester of pregnancy. In general, bleeding has the potential to harm the mother and fetus. Most pregnant women experience bleeding during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.
Dangerous symptoms of pregnancy that often occur are continuous vomiting, high fever, lack of fetal movement in the womb, shortness of breath, abdominal pain, excessive nausea, vomiting, and premature rupture of amniotic fluid. This condition must be immediately checked at the Emergency Room (IGD). So, pregnant women must recognize the risk at the beginning of pregnancy.
Prevention and management of dangers during pregnancy
The need for the latest Antenatal Care (ANC) checks by service standards, a minimum of 6 examinations during pregnancy. Examination is recommended to determine the high risk in pregnant women. Dr. Hanifah also emphasized the importance of using the Maternal and Child Health (KIA) book, which contains health information for mothers, from pregnancy during labor and continuing to record the baby’s health until age six.
The lecturer said that this opportunity invited the general public to be aware of the dangerous risks of pregnancy. Attention and help are needed wherever you are because it does not rule out the possibility of danger occurring in public facilities.
“All levels of society must support to prevent delays in treating emergencies for pregnant women, to reduce the mortality rate of maternal and infant deaths,” she explained.
