Giving lecture at UNAIR, Village Minister promotes One Village One BUMDes

UNAIR NEWS – Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigrations Minister Dr (HC) Drs H Abdul Halim Iskandar MPd disclosed an effective strategy for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) localization through village-owned enterprises (BUMDes) during his visit at Universitas Airlangga.

In the Deepening Desa BRIlian 2022, the minister explained the village’s tremendous role in Indonesia’s economy. “Taking into account the agricultural sector alone, the added value continues to grow by 1.77 percent when the national economy contracts minus by 2.07 percent in 2020,” Halim said on Thursday, July 14, 2022.

Historically, despite facing economic contractions like monetary crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic in 2022, villages have proven to survive. The government then sets the SDGs to the village level. “In general, village SDGs have 18 goals with 222 indicators,” he said.

The 18th points of village SDGs are no poverty, zero hunger, good health and well-being, quality education, gender equality and empowering women, decent village, clean water and sanitation, clean and renewable energy village, economic growth, innovation and infrastructure, reduced inequality, and safe and resilient community village.

As well as responsible consumption and production, combating climate change, conserving water and the oceans, peace, and justice for society, partnership for sustainable development, and dynamic institutions and adaptive culture.

Halim promotes BUMDes as an important business entity in the village due to its status as the only public legal entity in the village. Therefore, BUMDes has an important role in maintaining and realizing village economic growth.

Furthermore, he explained that the official registration system of BUMDes can be accessed at Kemendesa.go.id site with one BUMDes for one village.

“To focus on developing the village economy and improving community welfare, the Government Regulation (PP) no. 11 of 2021 stipulates that there is only one BUMDes in one village. One Village, One BUMDes,” he said.
