The direct practice of halal and professional slaughterer in the backyard of the Nuruzzaman Mosque was also carried out so participants could see firsthand the practice of slaughtering and implementation of the materials.

Initially, participants were divided into seven groups, each containing thirteen people. Then, one representative of each group volunteered to slaughter the provided animal.

In his remarks, Abdul Rahem, the Head of the Halal Center Universitas Airlangga explained the purpose of the training. “This is one of the media for the participants to learn and mastering the fiqh of sacrifice, animal health, and slaughtering to welcome the upcoming Eid al-Adha,” said Abdul Rahem.

He also said that the training was held due to arising concerns in the lack of knowledge on halal slaughtering in the community when it is important knowledge, especially for the slaughterers. Furthermore, the slaughtering process affects the halal and haram of animal meat for consumption.

“With this training, hopefully, there will be more halal slaughterers and no more concerns on this matter,” he said. (il)
