UNAIR NEWS – The Student Association (HIMA) of the D4 Hotel Management Program at the Faculty of Vocational Studies, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), continues to build momentum after being selected for INTEGRATION, the International Program Competition for Student Organization. It is an initiative organized by Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE) now in its fifth year.
Under the banner SOURTY 3.0, HIMA Hotel Management organized three main events. The opening program, held Monday (Oct. 13, 2025), welcomed 23 international students from Universiti Teknologi Mara Malaysia (UiTM). The visiting group traveled to Madura Island to explore its cultural heritage.
“We want to highlight regions rich in art, culture, and tourism potential. We chose Madura Island as the centerpiece of this program because of its cultural distinctiveness and promising tourism prospects,” said Sabrina Dwi Damayanti, Head of the SOURTY 3.0 Committee.

Inspiring talk show
The second day of SOURTY 3.0, held at the Amphitheater of UNAIR Dharmawangsa-B Campus on Friday (Oct. 25, 2025), featured an inspirational talk show titled “Young Voices, Timeless Culture: The Role of Youth in Preserving Local Tradition.” The event included a special appearance by Miss East Java 2024, Nadia Sheren Maulina.
Damayanti added that the day also featured a culinary showcase. “We invited Bramasandy Martinusa, a practical instructor in Hotel Management and a Food and Beverage Restaurant Staff member at Shangri-La Surabaya. We also featured a cultural performance by Daul Blega Mutiara from Bangkalan, Madura,” she said.
Main event
The culmination of SOURTY 3.0 was an international seminar bringing together three speakers who presented on different topics. The program opened with a session titled “Getting to Know Madura: An Island That Offers Cultural Jewels,” delivered by Hendra Gemma Dominant, S.Sn., Head of the Cultural Division at the Bangkalan Culture and Tourism Office.

“In addition to exploring Madura’s tourism landscape, SOURTY 3.0 also invited Hotel Management professor Prof. Dr. Bambang Suharto, SST, MMPar, who presented ‘Potential of Madura Culture in the Tourism Industry.’ The session provided participants with an understanding of the steps required to develop an island into a well-known tourism destination.”
The final presentation was delivered by Indonesia’s 2025 Tourism Ambassador, Nabila Nur Faiza Fadly, who discussed “Social Media for Smart Tourism: Digital Innovation as a Strategy to Build Local Destination Image in the Society 5.0 Era.”
