UNAIR NEWS – The love of science is a gift to be grateful for. Naturally, this is a blessing given by God to His chosen servants. Being part of the people given the advantage of knowledge is a big responsibility, therefore, the obligation to teach it to the community is a must.

It was conveyed by the Rector of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih SE MT Ak, in his remarks at the Inauguration of Postgraduate Students, for Doctoral, Masters, Specialist, and Professional Degree Odd Semester, Universitas Airlangga. The activity took place at the Garuda Mukti Hall, MERR (C) Campus, UNAIR on Thursday, August 25, 2022.

“The postgraduate studies’ orientation is the development of science. Of course, we hope that it will produce strong scientists, scholars, and leaders,” he explained.

For Prof. Nasih, preparing graduates with integrity is something UNAIR has always done, both by designing educational curricula and improving human resources’ quality for more comprehensive learning. Moreover, professionalism is also something that must be maintained at all times. According to him, it attracts special interest in the community.

“In addition to adequate competence and knowledge, of course, there are traits and characters that must be possessed by a professional,” added the Professor of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UNAIR.

In his speech, the Rector also advised to instill goodness in every action, including the character possessed by Airlangga Knights (academicians of UNAIR), Excellence with Morality. This motto is the main value that UNAIR academics must possess.

“With this, UNAIR students can hopefully compete with other university students, nationally and internationally,” he said.

Prof. Nasih also spoke about the speed and proactive spirit that students must have, especially at the postgraduate level. Global dynamics requires humans to move and think quickly, so they will not be left behind. According to him, with these abilities, UNAIR students will become leaders with an impact, not just followers of the mass.

“If you’re not upfront, you’ll get nothing. It’s not about work, it’s not about welfare, nowadays if you don’t hurry, you will run out of supplies,” he said. (*)
