UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga continues to uphold its motto Excellence with Morality. Through that motto, being intellectually intelligent and spiritually intelligent are two interrelated things. The intelligence of these two aspects will support each other in human life.

It was conveyed by the Rector of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih SE MT Ak, in his remarks at the inauguration of professors at Garuda Mukti Hall, MERR (C) Campus, Wednesday, August 24, 2022. With this inauguration, UNAIR has had 557 professors and 265 professors since its establishment as a Legal Entity State University (PTNBH).

“Great people have to go through a great process, with hits and blows, their journeys must also be great. And to be in a great position, the process and growth must be done in a great way too,” said the Rector.

According to the rector, for a scholar, believing in the existence of God and contemplating all that is created and destined is something that should be realized. The ability to think more objectively will bring a scholar closer to the Creator. The system and various interrelated variables between this life and the hereafter will be easily felt by people who reflect.

“A scientist will come to a conclusion that nothing is in vain created by God Almighty, Allah Subhanahu wa taala,” added the Professor of Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UNAIR.

Furthermore, the narrative on the subtle dichotomy between knowledge of the world and the knowledge of the hereafter is not considered wise. According to the Rector, all knowledge was revealed by God for the benefit of mankind to live a more balanced life. For him, all knowledge will be good if it is done in a good way and with good intentions, and vice versa.

“So that statistical science emerged, mathematics emerged, all of which are given to all of us so that we can predict and take planned actions so the destruction of this world does not occur,” he said.

On that occasion, the Rector of UNAIR inaugurated four professors: Prof. Dr. Agung Krismariono, drg. in the field of Periodontics, Prof. Dr. Bambang Purwanto, Dr. Mkes, in the field of Physiology, Prof. Dr. Fatmawati, in the field of Mathematical Modeling, and Prof. Dr. Ir. Annis Catur Adi in the field of Nutrition Science. (*)
