UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) inaugurated another five professors on Thursday, March 2, 2023. The professors inaugurated in this period were five women who had proven their achievements and contributions to society.
Five women professors from three different faculties
The five women professors are a professor of Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) Prof Dr Alfinda Novi Kristanti DEA, a professor of Faculty of Pharmacy (FF) Prof Dr Apt Noorma Rosita MSi, and three professors from Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH): Prof Dr Endang Suprihati, drh MS, Prof Dr Jola Rahmahani drh M Kes, and Prof Dr Poedji Hastutiek drh MSi.
First step to contribute
In his remarks, UNAIR Rector, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih SE MT Ak CA said that the inauguration is the beginning of innovations from professors. “If the top positions in public service are given towards the end of the service, the top position in the academic field, the title of professor, is given as the first step of more significant innovation and scientific development.”
For this reason, professors must be able to continue producing innovative works with the greatest possible benefits for humanity and the nation’s progress. “The existence of professors is not judged by the professorship title in front of their names, but the contribution they make to society, nation, and state,” he said.
Supporting UNAIR acceleration
Given the urgency of the research field presented in the scientific oration, Prof. Nasih is optimistic that the inaugurated professors will make an extraordinary contribution. “Researches on rabies, malaria, phytopharmaca compounds, cosmetics, and drugs are the topics presented in the professor’s orations, which in my opinion, are the strengths of UNAIR. So the addition of professors is expected to support the acceleration of UNAIR’s progress to contribute at the local, national, and international levels.”
Until today, UNAIR has 277 active professors, and the number will continue to grow. With this addition of five professors on the list owned by UNAIR, hopefully, it can prove UNAIR’s progress in producing work or final products that are beneficial to society. (*)
